OUR BACKGROUND

Compass DSA was formed in April 2008 by the amalgamation of Compass Independent Book Sales Limited (founded 1998) and Derek Searle Associates Limited (founded 1991).

Both companies were already market leaders enjoying strong recognition and support within the book trade. CDSA is now the clear leader in independent sales, and its client publishers have benefited from the combined experience and professionalism that the merger brought. We have been swift to respond to the fast changing book trade, and our sales strategy effectively reflects the growing importance attached to key account head office liaison and to non-traditional customers; supermarkets, specialist retailers and internet suppliers where additional penetration is needed and where so much potential growth exists. We also recognise that the role of the Sales Representative has evolved to one of Account Manager; handling not only vital subscriptions, but also core stock, local initiatives, promotion and publicity.

The CDSA directors and senior management team have a wealth of collective experience across every area of the UK book market and are committed to working in a collaborative approach with all their client publishers.
